During the first class attendants will learn: how to prepare a slab for construction, cut shapes into forms and learn joining techniques.
They will then use these techniques to make 2-3 small vessels.
Those attending the 2 week block will finish and prepare ceramic pieces for their first firing.
4 week block attendants will work on constructing vessels with lids and platters. Attendants will also learn how to create design and texture to emphasise aspects of their finished piece. Decoration will be done on the wet clay using a variety of coloured slips and applying different textures.
Making goblets and jugs and finishing everything in preparation for bisque firing.
Week 4 – Glazing and Decorating
Learning how to prepare finished bisqued wear for glazing. What is glazing and how does it work.
